New for 2024, we are offering winter skills weekends based around the Glencoe area in the West Highlands. These courses are perfect for novice winter walkers with a good base of summer hill experience, who are keen to spread their wings in winter.

What’s involved:
Whilst we can’t guarantee perfect conditions, we will aim to cover the following essential winter skills over the course of two days on the hill with additional evening sessions:
Winter movement skills
Use of crampons and ice axe
Avalanche avoidance and weather
Winter navigation
Route planning
Conditions allowing, a mountain summit or two!
What’s included:
Winter Mountain Leader to lead and instruct you throughout the weekend
Friendly maximum ratio of 1:4 clients
Ice axe, crampon and helmet hire
Maps and compass (feel free to bring your own)
