Arran Wild Walks

New for 2024, we are offering winter skills weekends based around the Glencoe area in the West Highlands. These courses are perfect for novice winter walkers with a good base of summer hill experience, who are keen to spread their wings in winter.

Clients sometimes ask me, “what is your favourite walk to lead on Arran”. This one is certainly a contenender.

A guided walk around the cock of Arran, a coastline steeped in history and geology, plus teeming with wildlife.

Lucy spent a solstice night at Millstone Point. Read her reflections on the proposed Salmon Farm in this wild place, home to otters, seals and protected seabirds…and a note of cautious optimism for the future.

I think it’s fair to say that 2020 has been the year that everything changed. We’ve had a tricky year, but it has not been all bad. At Arran Wild Walks, there have been some lovely changes for the better alongside all the difficulties, and one of these was the arrival of Nuis, a ten month old rescued border collie, with a big heart.

Beinn Tarsuinn…. Transverse Hill… or as I like to call it, the “Hill in the Middle”. Beinn Tarsuinn is well named. It squats like a bulky tricorn hat in the centre of the popular Three Beinns horseshoe, between Beinn Nuis and Beinn a’ Chliabhain.

Inspired by views from afar, we embark on a series of posts, putting the spotlight on our favourite Arran mountains. First up, the tallest and the most well loved: Goatfell.
